Why is money being used in textiles to kill bacteria that cause odors, how it works, and is it clean?
I see towels being advertised (called Wick-er heater towel) on several swim and travel groups, and I want to know how it is that money in the fiber actually kills bacteria and fungi.
The money seems to form insoluble compounds with proteins, which disrupts the cellular function. The money will eventually wash all out, but if the article was well designed, the leaching rate will be appropriate for properties antimicrobial (for example, not all washing after washing). Silver toxicity is relatively low to mammals but is toxic to aquatic water. Of course, an element that will not degrade.
