How can you tell the difference between glass and crystal real?

My children bought a rose quartz crystal necklace and a crystal clear large white / from the specialty shop. Their friends insist the crystals are not "real." I heard that some stores sell glass under the cover of crystals to be real, but how do you say?

One way to tell is through how it is faceted. Minerals defined crystal structures that can be cut into a gem: "crystal" form along fracture planes for sure. Clearly, you can not really look at it, and neither can I. There are very few minerals transparent glassy enough to be wrong (especially if you know how they fracture). Even fewer of these minerals are quite common to encounter in a normal crystal shop – such as minerals that are bartered for cons. To compare the crystal glass can be cons, you will need a sample of each to see what a scratch (Mohs hardness) than the other. Basically, If you're unfamiliar with the actual identification of minerals and crystals, and all you have is a crystal of something, there is very little we can do. The only way really possible to try would be to test Mohs scratch your crystals. Most of these crystals may transparencies are softer than glass, and would be zero – but then you'd have a crystal stripe. I recommend you take the chance of 99.9% which is just glass, and enjoy anyway.
