All you have to do is supply the fabric lampshade and the vintage buttons.

To Make a Vintage Button Lamp Shade You Will Need:

Fabric lampshade
Vintage Buttons
masking tape
ruler or tape measure
tapestry needle (needs to have a attractive point to high-tail through the fabric lampshade)
yarn or needle point thread

The first step is to lay out your Vintage Button pattern.

You can trace your lampshade on some paper; lay out your vintage buttons and then trace them with a pencil.

Dwelling this pattern inside of your lampshade if you want a specific pattern.

Use your tapestry needle to pole a hole in every little square on your pattern. This may buy some time.

Now, tape the Vintage Button pattern onto your lampshade.

Now, use a light yellow color pencil to make a mark where each vintage button should be sewn on.

Remove the pattern and you are ready to start sewing buttons on.

The first step is to make a Knot the waste of the string. You need to score it inside the lampshade.

Now the right work begins. Use a large tapestry needle, so that it will easily chase through your fabric lampshade.

Poke it through the vintage button and sew it on in an X motion.

Continue this process placing your vintage buttons out in your pattern.

When you have completed your Vintage Button sewing on the fabric lampshade you need to be sure to trim away any strings that may be hanging out of the back of your make. These could be a fire hazard if you are not careful.

Tips:

Clearly you will be able to see through your lampshade somewhat, so keep this in mind while you are stitching your Vintage Buttons on.

Do not jump from area to area. Basically do not have a long thread jumping over the bag of your shade or you will see this line through the e front. This will require some planning and careful thought on your part. The easiest thing to do it to cut off your string of after your sew each vintage button on.

Always expend the same wattage bulb that the make the maker of the lamp recommends. Do not exceed that wattage because not only is your lamp not meant to tolerate the heat, you new lampshade will not either.

To clean your Vintage Button lampshade I recommend an occasional vacuuming. Do not get it wet at any cost. Your threads could bleed their colors onto the white lampshade.
